Evenin Bawn, I'm going to be down in Clonmel for most of the week for my sins, I'm looking for some great places to visit in that general vicinity or at least within a hour or so drive but things look pretty barren down that corner of Tipp. Any hidden treasures or unexplored delights that you know of (apart from that coal bunker stone on the Cashel road)? Looks like my trips will have to be at night so will have to factor that in too. Kilmogue by moonlight is on the schedule already :)

I dont think there are that many "show sites" in tipp really. Im in the process of buying a house in Cahir so I should be getting a feel for the area over the coming year.
The hill-tops are covered in cairns and Im looking forward to climbing up to them.

What I could recommend and it might be nice is Longstone Rath, http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/7744,
Duntryleague isnt that far away either and is sign-posted http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2577
Obviously wont be able to see these at night but they are fabulous and can be seen from Duntryleague
http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/8072.

I think they are the main sites North Cork and Kilkenny and don't know much about to be honest.

Two recommendations while you're down there:

Knockroe http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/1515/
easy access, excellent carvings, though maybe a little difficult to photograph

Bawnfree Hill http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/7461/
top of a hill, bit of a trudge, but amazing views

Cheers for all the pointers, looks like Knockroe will be on the hitlist and possibly Bawnfree hill (better charge up the lamps!) for a start. Duntryleague is also very tempting, if I'm feeling like a drive I might also go as far as Shanballyedmond for some nocturnal moseying.

The visit notes for Knockroe say its up a track, can you drive up the track or is it more like a trek? Any idea how long the track is as well?
Cheers :)
