I have a few days off around the solstice, I was hoping to head somewhere within an hour of Cahir on the 20th. I was thinking maybe Knockroe or Bawnfree hill in Kilkenny. Any other suggestions for sunrise or sunset. Maybe a stone cirlce for sunset?
Was kind of hoping to be up at Dowth for sunset on the 21st so I dont know where to go around Meath for the sunrise of the 21st. Any suggestions?

Knockroe is wonderful for the sunset. I caught it a few years ago.

Don't know where I'd go for sunrise down that way. A lot of the axial stone circles will give you a nice alignment to the sunset, though.

We watched the sun come up from the tumulus this morning with our bleary-eyed youngest. Jaw droppngly wonderful. Even the gherkin looked magical. Rolling mist, orange light, viking clouds, virtually no people as far as you could see and the odd friendly lurcher for company. Hope you all had a good one.
