For my part I didn't need it explaining. I suppose I'm making a slightly foolish assumption that everyone else (i.e. the viewing public) have figured out that violence is part of human nature as well. Maybe it's something that needs explaining, but possibly not re-enacting in flash frames.

I'm still in favour of explaining what we know, rather than what we are guessing, and keeping an eye on the facts before phoning up 'Iron Age Extras Ltd.' and throwing on a jolly old re-enactment.

I think I see it differently. Re-enactments can be crap on Discovery Channel archeo progs. In this case, I thought that they did it well with very short flashes and it did reinforce the cold telling of "three blows to the head and stab wounds". I generally support any means of getting it across that these were real people in real danger suffering real fear and real pain.. (Oh dear - I suppose some wazzac is going to call me Real Pete again - or was it Pete Real?) The woman sampling nostril pollen got it right for me when she said that she felt an emotional link with the bodies and also treated them with enormous respect. For me it worked and worked well.
