Thanks - the Newgrange picture is superb. I keep looking at the reconstructed retaining wall (it's not quite right) and how the top's been finished. There's some excellent wallpapers at www.knowth.com too.

That's a whole new thread! Most people agree that it's nowhere near right, even the guides these days admit that it's just one interpretation. They had to get a special, modern cement cement specially formulated to get the quartz to stay up there. Basically, the wall was never vertical and the pattern of inset rounded stones is, obviously a guess.
