Got to be a relatively local person, why pick a little circle like that otherwise? If you want to make a proper impact, you want to go to stonehenge and dash clear of security whilst madly wielding your paintbrushes. (No please don't.)

Poor nine ladies, why does it get so little respect. I visited as a kid with my family, I dragged them up there and then there were a bunch of gits camping in it, I was so appalled. If it's not paint it's camp fires and litter. So depressing.

Little but afaik the most visited prehistoric site in the peaks. Ease of access and a lovely location means it has a steady stream of visitors every weekend day (think rollright stones sort of levels). When we were up last Saturday, we stopped for a picnic and saw perhaps 5 other lots of visitors in the 45 mins we were there...

And the quarrying, which has just raised its head yet again. It's cursed.

The camping and litter has been going on for ages, see this by Suave Harve http://heritageaction.wordpress.com/2010/06/24/pizza-on-the-fiddlers-stone-solstice-thoughts-from-suave-harv/

"One girl told us how great the English Heritage people were. “They come along after us with their black bags and clear it all up the day after” she said."

GRRRRRR!
