So much to see!

Jeez - this place looks amazing! I've not even TOUCHED on going to Wales yet - this sort of thing has prompted me to rethink me holiday plans!

I mean - look at it! http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/25455

Looks like something out of Lord of the Rings or summat! Not that I've seen any of the films, but it's what I imagine it to be...

Planning a couple of weeks in North-east Scotland this year - Orkneys and that. Just started lookin into it and it looks amazing! But this Bryn Cader Faner has made me want to go to Wales. Next year, maybe...

Is that place for real?
Has it been restored?
Looks like a crown of thorns...

I've not made it up to Bryn Cader Faner yet. I gather it's the real thing though. Shame it's so far off.

Although I live in Wales, it's not all that easy to get from A to B here quickly because the roads are so small (and rail links poor). That makes distant sites with a walk attached kind of daunting.

Also, our youngest is just reaching the age where he's too heavy to carry on your back, which makes hill walking nigh on impossible.

Must make the effort though. Think I'd better try and make the journey this Spring.

We started from Talsarnau climbing up through several farms with wonderful views of Snowdonia around us. Sue my wife and I where not prepared for the astounding sight of the Crown of Thorns on the Eastern horizon. It was truly stunning, to linger here with the song of the Meadow Pippits ringing in our ears and the panorama of the surrounding mountains. Our day was completed with the walk down to Harlech filled with ring cairns and megaliths it will stay in our memories forever.
