Looking back through some old notes I’ve found that I’ve often called fallen stones ‘recumbent’ in the past – oops!.
I suppose its easy to call stones recumbent when they’re lying their sides but maybe we ought to save the term for the ‘real’ recumbents, which aren’t lying down – they just have tops and bottoms that are longer then the sides (if that makes any sense).
As FW’s says I don’t think there are any real RSC’s outside Scotland and Ireland, but I could be wrong – one of the stones at Doll Tor looks like a miniature ‘recumbent’
