Recumbent Stone circles are a particular form of circle as Fourwinds describes. In the strict sense of the phrase neither Arbor Low nor Gunnerkeld are RSC's, just fallen I'm affraid.

you know... when I was last at Arbor low I was looking for the recumbent stone.. now it seems there isn't one and I look and feel an ass.. still

So why is Arbor Low sometimes termed as a recumbent stoned circle. I have always been lead to believe that was the case. Are we to assume that there are no "Scottish style" Recumbent stone circles south of the border?.

Also for now I to am confused does this mean that any recumbent sites (like Arbor Low) south of the border are recumbent because the stones have fallen over? It seems strange terminology to me if this is the case.
