That's the bit that makes it extra tricky I imagine (apart from the jiggling etc.). Maybe there are filters that could make the glass less of a problem. Arbor Low from a hot air baloon, now that would be something. Plenty of time, no glass in the way, relatively stable patform, wind blowing you miles off course etc...
