I finally got along to this Moss, and I thought it was great. Did you see Graham Sutherland's 'Red Landscape' which is Carn Llidi?
I love Paul Nash and John Piper but it was nice to learn some new artists that were trying to capture the same sort of thing (Ivon Hitchens, John Elwyn) - and I see there was at least one thing by that chap I've forgotten the name of, but you had a book of his (hmm hopeless).

Anyway so I'd encourage anyone reasonably near to get over there sharpish before the next bit of the exhibition starts.

Hi Rhiannon, Yes bought the catalogue, went along twice, so second time I could mark what was there in the first exhibition.... Saw Sutherland's red Carn Llidi, though you would be hard pressed to identify it, apparently according to the blurb his mind was on the atrocities of war. Next bit of the exhibition is also interesting more of Silbury Hill with owls by Inshaw and Graham Arnold's Dragon Hill and the Uffington White Horse plus his "Earthwork, or at Maiden Castle" looks pretty good...Not sure about the ruralists but did find out where they started from in the old rail station at Wellow - but no Stoney Littleton paintings ;)

Not had a chance to see the exhibition but did attend Dr Anderson's talk a couple of years ago at a venue on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Several of the Ruralists were there including Graham and Annie Ovenden who also live on the edge of the Moor. I can not say I liked all the art Dr Anderson presented (not a fan of Nash) but i do like the Ovendens stuff...sort of dreamy but vivid...if that makes sense!
