I'd have thought it pointed to all those things. And as for being interested in the solstices not being to do with worshipping the sun how does he work that out?

Those were pretty much my thoughts tbh. I don't understand how this discovery negates some of those ideas.

I suspect he doesn't think it does, it's just that he's so keen to push the stripes as THE big discovery it sort of came out as minimising everything else!

I sympathise with him though, the stripes are very compelling.
