Such a pity they didn't do it years ago , seems a reasonable compromise between cost and better /improved access . Would have been nice for Britain's World Heritage site to have been sorted for the Olympics .

It's not exactly a compromise, it's the exact right thing to do.

(I reckon we'll never afford to put the A303 in a tunnel until the petrol runs out and we don't need to!).
