The excavation shown was pretty close to the road so that would have destroyed any evidence that the groves went further but it's a fair possibility that they did. Another excavation down by the elbow showed them there as well,however there was no digging the other side of the elbow. It would be interesting to know whether they continued up the hill, heading for the E end of the Cursus.
