I am *thrilled* to see they're planning to remove that existing visitor centre crap and perhaps will force people - especially coach loads of 'casual' tourists to get out and walk from their parked cars some distance off. Perhaps then only those who really want to see it will be bothered to put the effort in. And I'm not a walker! Its just too damned easy at the moment, almost like some hideous Disneyfied 'drive-thru' thang.

I notice from the plans that there will be a shuttle bus running from the visitor centre which runs around the periphery of the site. You can alight at places such as Woodhenge/Durrington Walls, the Cursus and Winterbourne Stoke Barrow Group.
For those not so keen on the walking, you could get off at Fargo and walk down to Stonehenge along the route of the A344, which will have become a green lane. Then, on leaving, carry on walking east to catch the internal shuttle bus back to the visitor centre.
