Just to add to Rob's comments....North of the first "elbow" of the Avenue they've opened an old Atkinson trench (1950s) to expose what is called the Gate Ditch. this seems to run NNE from the Avenue. I've posted it as a new site on the Stonehenge page with pics but have no further information. Can anyone help?

Lovely deep ditches and postholes at the long barrow site. I've posted this also as a new site and called it the "Cursus Longbarrow". Unfortunately after the excavation there will be nothing so see as it has been completely flattened and a road built over it!
