Stonehenge and its Environs 134

I received a communication this morning from an eminent authority on early European manuscripts.

The figure on the left here at http://megalithicpoems.blogspot.com/ is now thought to represent a well-known antiquarian and director of a construction company in the process of shifting one of the lintels to make way for a new 14th century road scheme (note how cunningly part of the upright between his legs has been deviously painted out). The figure in the centre appears to be a quasi-government official of the day, and infrared photography around his head has shown a barely legible inscription in gobbledygook that we think might read, "Are you sure this is going to work 'cause we've got to get it ready before the Games?" The figure on his knees on the left remains a bit of a mystery but stylistic similarities with other contemporary illustrations suggest he is pleading with the other two figures to either get it right or do nothing at all. We can't be sure but there seem to be two letters embroidered on his right sleeve that might read HA (or possibly NS). Obviously this figure is of much greater interest than the other two and further research is now underway to discover who he was and what he stood for :-)
