"its huge surface entrance cuttings across one third of the World Heritage area)."

Would that be the Stonehenge Bottom entrance to quote; "except for 9 metres high (at Stonehenge Bottom) embankment covering tunnel visible from Stonehenge.. and to go further... less expensive than Published Scheme but a visually intrusive embankment covering.. so, there will still be traffic seen trundling down to Stonehenge Bottom and the tunnel.

There are some govt. artists impressions on the net that I've heard described by someone who has gone into it as "giving a misleading impression". In this age of computer animation you'd think there would be a definitive "walk around" impression of the whole new situation but I haven't seen one. No doubt one will be produced but only AFTER the process of calling for public opinions on the options has closed and the decision is a fait accompli...

I'm not sure how far along the cutting you would have been standing (do you?) but it will run in for a third of a mile getting deeper and wider and culminating in a big black tunnel entrance with lights in it directly facing you. Nice. Same thing at the other end but longer.

As someone mentioned elsewhere, won't it look nice at dusk when the whole thing's lit up?
