IMPORTANT Update-10pm TUES NOT WED BBC2- Stonehenge movie Pls fwd

The BBC have advertised this program as being shown on wed the 10th
for the past 3 months on their website - all of a sudden its Tues,
why, I don't know - many people think its wednesday so please forward
this to anyone who might be interested.

I have seen the first part of the cut version - if I hadn't seen the
original I would probably think that it is great, and it is, but
compared with the original BBC4 version it is white sugar and has
lost a lot of its substance and its real information about the
negotiations behind the scenes.

I will be approaching the BBC to get them to air the full version,
maybe some of you could write to the bbc also. In the meantime if you
want to see the original uncut version contact me.

What did people think? I watched both sections, the second on BBC4 shortly after the first. I found it suprisingly reasonable compared to other programs of this kind. I thought the NT came out of it reasonably well, unlike English Heritage...

it was nice to see the people celebrating the solstice too - I found it quite energising.

I saw it a while back when it was first shown on BBC4, and thoroughly enjoyed the programme, but it annoyed me so much! All I remember, through the red mists, was that ignorant bastard EH woman going on about moving the date of the Solstice!

Things you'd never hear:"Sorry - christmas day has been moved to December 27th this year for health and safety reasons"

I paid to go to Stonehenge for the first time last year, and was struck by the magnificence of the place - a fantastic feat of human engineering - but what a soleless place! Several people have mentioned visiting it at Solstice, but after seeing that programme, I doubt I'll bother! There's plenty of other places around where there's less "Om"ing and certainly less helicopters and whingey EH people and walls of police and time constraints... *puff* *pant* *gasp*

I've been to a couple of different places for various Solstices, and I guess it just depends, like anywhere you go, on the company. If you're in good company, anywhere can be enjoyable.

So that's what I reckon anyway. There seemed to be some nice people there. And a lot of ravers getting off their tits to the bongos and whistles. Each to their own. I doubt I'll be there. And it'll probably be all the better for it..!

Well, what are the chances of that happening?

Got a call last night from a very good friend of mine asking if I'd ever been to Stonehenge, as he hadn't, and do I fancy going this weekend?!

Still can't resist it despite everything I said... Still a fantastic place... I think I'll have an explore of the environs - anyone recommend any good walks in the area? Fancy a brief meander around the stones, but know it'll just annoy me once I'm there (what with all them stoopid walkie-talkie things and people - *shudder* - people... just people... lost me train of thought but that'll do..!), so will need to chill out elsewhere, and know there's plenty to see...

Any ideas?
