That is not to say that one of the millions of theories isn't correct though :-)

Alternatively of course the millions of theories may be ALL wrong! We need an infinite number, to be sure about it.

I'd qualify this:
"the only real facts that we know about Stonehenge FOR CERTAIN , is that it is indeed ancient, and that it is here in the land of our birth"
and add "... at present, anyway".

More than marbles may be resting on the decision about the Elgin marbles.

Very true, but as TD says, we will never know for sure, and can only interpret what we think Stonehenge was built for. On the possitive side, the more we try to solve the puzzle, the closer we may get. We can all have a theory, but can never actually be totally right or totally wrong.
