Sorry to drag up what is probably an often asked question here....

I'm looking to visit Avebury/Stonehenge/Kennets/Savernake/etc area with my family and I need some suitable, economical, accomodation for a few days.

We will be driving so we don't need to stay too local but we don't want to be too far from the action. Scouring the web I can see where not to stay (The R*d Li*n) but has anyone got any recent experience? Marlborough? Devizes? B&B? Hotel? Any little gems out there?

Hey there

We stayed her last year http://www.theoldforge-avebury.co.uk/ and it was really lovely. An easy walk to Avebury & WKLB in the really lovely little village of East Kennet. There was an OK pub about 15 mins walk (along quiet country lanes, rather than the hideous A4) and not much else; we had a barn owl who came out each evening to entertain us and were more than happy just wandering around by the river in the evenings. Great breakfast and really comfy rooms. Can't remember how much it cost but it certainly wasn't expensive and they have a family room.
