When you consider the origin of causewayed enclosures is from the continent then Sheppey would be expected to pre-date Wessex . And there is the local precedent of Ramsgate too .

It is a logical assumption, but unfortunately it seems to have been overlooked. Maybe not fashionable enough, maybe uncooperative farmers, who knows.

Ramsgate/Cliffsend and down towards Pegwell Bay is an extremely rich area, with supposed Cursi too, but thanks to the farming methods it's all been levelled. And of course there is a lot of stuff offshore that is lost - there's a site in the shallows at Minnis Bay that I keep meaning to go down and check out, stupid fool that I am the last time I went at high tide...
