Just too add a wee note...if you travel up Rochester Road out of Aylesford, cross under the A249 and continue straight on, take the first turning left, the immediate ground to the left is scattered with sarsens as you climb up quite a steep, overgrown road. These could be natural or man-placed, but being in pretty dense woodland doesn't help to make sense of anything. Also, along Gleaming Wood Drive, less than a mile away towards Horsted, the road is lined with local cleared sarsens.

Then of course, there's the name Capstone Park in the same area....

I recently moved to live / work on The Isle of Sheppey.Have heard some local rumours / stories that there was once a Stone Circle either on the site of what is now Minster Abbey,or,the adjacent Saint Sexburgas Well.Allegedly some of the stones are in the foundations of one of the pubs below The Minster. It would theoretically be a good site, given the view over the surrounding marshes and the Medway/Thames Estuary.Have you or anyone else come across this in your investigations into The Avenue or The Medway Area?
