Took me a while to figure that one out.
I'm not sure if it is a sharpening stone or just weathering. And if it is a sharpening stone then it may not be prehistoric
and saying all that.....I kinda like it where it is.
Like yourself I see stone walls as rock art, not very portable though, unless your a down-on your-luck upland farmer selling off your walls to garden centers.

The individual components of a stone wall are *very* portable. I'm psyching myself up for the 'big carry' of bringing one or two (or 6) back to base - half of them in a rucsac. The megalithic grooves as sharpening tools is a modern day myth (surely). Of half a dozen bits of whetstone I have, and use, not one is of that shape. Putting a wicked edge on a bronze sword would need a fine-grained flat stone (Shirley). Perhaps applying a Megalithic Ruler to these said grooves may help dispel the notion. I don't know. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I have a couple of small cairns that I would appreciate an expert opinion on - I'll post a couple of links in a day or so. There's a little asteroid in a near-earth trajectory and also the Equinox. First leaves on the trees begin to shake off. Swallows head south, parents first (last week), youngsters this. They are as scared as heck and making as much weight as possible ...
