Hi Goff,
Thank you for taking the time to look at the 'Hidden Swindon' blog, your interest is much appreciated. I do confess to going into shock for a while when I first moved back to Swindon but on my train journeys to and from London I always felt I had 'come home' when the Uffington White Horse came into view. Some of the newer bits of Swindon are functional and souless it is true but there is much tucked away that can only be found by walking about.

Your link about the Fleet was fascinating - I had heard about it and lived for nearly two decades within walking distance of Hampstead Heath but had no idea that is where it sprang from. What a tragedy it is so completely gone - it would be heart-breaking if the beautiful Kennett ever became so depleted. Let us trust that will never happen.

Bountiful blessings to the little chap.

Very much like Southampton, actually! There's a load of lovely hidden nooks and crannies if only you have the time to go and find them... I might have to blog it meself!

Yeah - it's always a shame, isn't it? It'd be nice to think that such prominent places will be better looked after by a modern society - learning from our past mistakes and all that... Only time will tell!

Thank you so much! We'll have to bring him out on a meet-and-greet sometime soon!

Not completely. There's a side road in Farringdon, where if you lay down in the middle of the road and put your ear to the grating, you can still hear the Fleet bubbling away below you.

I sometimes walk down that way for lunch, just to remind myself of what's hidden but not yet gone.
