Hi Bawn,
I love the pictures of Buachaill Hill. A Christian Cross with it's foundations in a Pre-Christian Cairn and to cap it all, the cross being used as a telephone pole.

There's a metaphor in there somewhere

Ya its a big thing in Ireland, they seem to love putting up big crappy looking crosses on top of pagan sites. In my locality they built a big concrete cross on a hill in the 1930s and one night during a thunder storm in the 70s it got hit by lighting and broke at its base. I always chuckle to myself when i hear this, a lighting strike being an "act of god" and all that!

It's not actually being used as a telegraph pole. Those wires are the electricity supply for the light up cross! Same can be seen here:
