You beat me to it Chris, I watched The Code last night and intended to post the link later today. The Sunkenkirk bit was a lovely surprise; as you said in your post, Professor Marcus du Sautoy went to Sunkenkirk to demonstrate that if you divide the circumference of a circle by the diameter you always get Pi no matter how big or small the circle - fascinating.

Thoroughly recommended.

Those portals buggered it up for him though [and even then it's not a true circle] and he had to use a plate to explain , oh the ancients would have pissed themselves , i still feel they were ahead of us and we're just playing catch up [even him], very interesting and enjoyable program though, cheers i only saw it because of this link.
