Is the stone supposedly sacred? Any marks of ancient hand?

I only know of buried stones INSIDE dolmens. We'd think that might be a ritual but how about a stone which was discarded or buried for eternity as an offering? Things are buried in this way in the ancient world and that includes stones;
I'd be interested to know what kind of stone it is.

Hey AQ,
Yup- it has indeed been fashioned by ancient hand. It has nine cup marks on its upper horizontal surface. It's about 1 metre high and about 1m by 0.5m wide. I've not seen many upright stones with cup marks on their upper surface, although the nearby Carse Farm I four poster has two such stones.
I've had a look through some of my books on the Perthshire area, but could find no other references to this stone, nor could find anything on the web. A curious one...

PS- I'm assuming the original report in the Proc Soc Antiq Scot by FR Coles in 1910 is correct and that 8' should indeed be eight foot and not 8" !!!
