Cheers Kammer, Victorians mucking about sounds far more plausible than a 12" high mound surviving from the mesolithic. It's just too well defined.

I shall now replace my original spurious mental image of mesolithic Cumbrians stomping about, with one of a chain gang of Victorians dragging hundreds of buckets of tea into the henge ;)
