I was at this site 2 weeks ago and none of the pictures I have seen do it justice...what a fantastic site! I agree with FW that it doesn't seem to match the classification in the Arch Inventory...Is there possibly a second chamber in there? When the excavations were carried out did they explore the rest of the mound?

What about the possibility of the big stones once being a pyramid like cap? Or is that merely local myth?

Any thoughts?

When you look at this picture: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/41668/ashley_park.html , you can see that it might just get wider at the near end. This could make it an [/i]undifferentiated passage tomb[/i].

It's just so odd. A great site that I would have taken a long time to visit if it wasn't for Derek.
