Thanks for that info, i wondered what the croney part might have meant (Pass Irish in the leaving cert im afraid). I will try and find more folklore hopefully this weekend.

As for the size of the stone it is massive, the archaeological report says that is a glacial erractic maybe that is the reason for locating the tomb here.

Also as i said the proximity to the 'Devils Bit' could be important.

It'll be a glacial erratic certainly but the subsidence suggests that it has been placed - onto foundations that have slipped or compacted - rather than being built around. It's quite an amazing ditch too. There'll be (or will have been) carved stones about somewhere...
