Great thread Goff, and great replies Megalithics and Rhiannon.

Got me thinking that (if it hasn’t been done already) a new thread (or slightly change the title of this one) devoted to eking out the possible meaning/history of megalithic place names might be of interest.

I have to thank Megalithics and Rhiannon for their research. It's all very interesting... The more I read the more confused I become! :D

I don't see that Long Meg of Westminster's geographic ties should restrict her from being associated with Cumbria, being as the very nature of folk tales takes them across continents, changing slightly as they go... It could be that the link to Westminster is a red herring! :/

Who knows. Not me. But I like the story so far... :)
