You might also try 'crescent-shaped' earthwork and see if there's anything at its focus. It looks as though the Arthur links, on that plain, have solilunar overtones. The fishpond could even be Roman. It would be busy in Medieval times, behind the wall, also as there was a castle there - whereabouts now disputed.

It's still traceable, but I don't want to start you off marra, as you'll immediately see the possible prehistoric mound that everyone else up there interprets as a motte ;) Besides, I'm more interested in testing my ideas about that mythical cave in the folklore. Think I might know where it is.

Upon your advice, I shall keep an eye out for northerly things, just in case. There is a lost stone row, according to some, and the trees are starting to be felled, so who knows what may be revealed?
