I've never got round to going to Waulaud's bank pathetically.
But I've not heard of Asheridge - you should put it on the website and tell us about it, that'd be interesting.

By the way, I like your positivity about going out in the winter!! I was just thinking this morning as my train tootled across the frosty misty bit by the river, it really pays to see the countryside at different times of year, you see different things. And the low angle of the sun with the lovely light this time of year helps you see things differently too, and pick out bumps in the landscape.

That & the number of people out & about are reduced. Mind you, at this time of year you never know what you may see.

Ancient woodland is particularly nice in winter. A small forest in Cwm Bychan near to the Dyffryn Burial Chambers is lovely. There is a group of round huts near there, according to the locals, but doesn't appear on maps or anything.

Will dig out what I know about Ashridge. The estate is quite big, even covers Ivinghoe Beacon and the rest of the ridge too. Now that in a winter sunrise is something else.
