Well, perhaps they're wrong, but these are thought to be Neolithic or even Mesolithic. These are probably considered older because they're more primitive.

Unfortunately, the shale surface they are (or were) carved onto is now gorse and bramble infested and may even have fallen off - it's impossible to say because you can't get near them.

No, I can't prove its age. I imagine (imagine) that there was a discontinuity between the Golden Age of Bronze and the 'L.B.A.' and that the later creatures wistfully made these scratches and pools. If I could find *another* stone with some of these scratches on that would be useful. As the marks are so superficial they must erode on rocks that are rubbed or under the weather.
