Silbaby

And so it begins.

close

Pete Glastonbury finally convinced archaeologists to investigate Silbaby, core samples were taken today, 26.10.10
They discovered that it is man made and old.
RC dates will establish exactly how old but the cores were remarkably similar to those taken at Silbury.
The mound will officially be known as Waden Mound.
Full details will be published in a book about Avebury by Pete Glastonbury & Steve Marshall due for publication in summer 2011.

Thanks to Pete for this exciting news.

Congratulations to all involved, I look forward to the Avebury book ... Steve Marshall is a man of integrity and an excellent writer while Pete Glastonbury's knowledge of Avebury is legendary.

Steve interviewed John Michell just a few weeks before he died which was later published in Fortean Times as the last interview JM gave. I understand Steve is currently reviewing the Story of Silbury Hill book for the FT. He is also a regular contributor to Wiltshire Life and various music journals.

Exciting stuff! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Yes, it's fantastic. And I remember Pete bringing it here, while we went through all the possiblities. There's an alignment, involving the moon, at an extreme, if I recall correctly. That has to be at the centre of any interpretation. I wonder if PeteG's banned here and whether that could be reversed. Heavens above, core sampling's the way to go ...

Congratulations Pete -if you're still reading (didn't know you were banned).
What an amazing to have done.
