Aye, and the golden rule is to keep off the booze (etc) when posting (of if summat must be written wait 'til the following day before posting it). And when it's up stick by it - no deleting great chunks of a post (or even whole posts) because they've become a bit embarrassing overnight. The editing facility here is (imho) for fixing typos, minor errors or adding extra relevant info - not for manipulating the record to one's advantage.

Furthermore, three cheers for Rhiannon! Who unstintingly adds to our knowledge of folklore (modestly and consistently, and with little reference to herself) a true gem in the crown that's TMA!

If Branwen has decided not to come back she won't be responding, so on her behalf I would like to say I am 100% certain her motive for deleting her post was not gain any sort of advantage ... perhaps just to protect a piece of work she had done.

You make a fair point LS; though of course there are many reasons why someone might edit a post, none of them necessarily to gain advantage. For example if they thought what had been written may be taken in a way not intended (thereby causing offence) they might on reflection change it. It would just be about trying not to rub people up the wrong way with no other 'dodgy' motive.
