Celtica

I'm not a big fan of Celtica to be honest. I confess I've not been very far past the coffee shop (not very child friendly as I recall), but as far as I can gather the centre rides on the back of 'the generic Celt'.

In case you were wondering who the generic Celts were, they made Stonehenge, lived in hill forts, wore woad and spoke Welsh. They were a bit like druids and they would probably have voted Plaid Cymru because the Welsh are all Celts you see (not like the English).

I'm jesting a bit here, but it's true to say that historical accuracy is not the primary objective at centres like this. They aim to entertain, and it seems the public can't cope with statements like 'we don't really know...'.

Obviously it'd be a shame if Celtica closed, but I'd be a lot more concerned if the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) was going under (which thankfully it ain't). Maybe I should visit Celtica before it's too late and see whether my prejudices are justified.
