Nah - I think I agree with you, actually! In my brief search for mentions of the measurement, I've found some discrepencies... Maybe they didn't use tape measures in the olden days.

Which is pretty much why I wondered if it was something astrological. Or... is there anywhere else would people have got such accurate measurements from? I suppose feet and hands are a natural way to measure...
