>Did you see the bit about Stukeley and his friendship with the Princess of Wales, who was a member of a druid order? Wood was very influenced by Stukeley apparently.<

I did see that ds - amazing stuff! Keep kicking myself that I missed the first half of the prog but it was unscheduled. Evidently the prog has been shown before. Really hope it's shown again so I can see it all - meanwhile a trip to Bath methinks.

If you have cable, I'm sure that it has been on the History Channel quite often. Or perhaps that's BBC 4. God, I've confused myself now! Oh, well. If I see it advertised I'll let everyone know.

It is an excellent programme, should really try and tape it next time.

Yeah, I missed the first bit as well.
Used to go to Bath quite a bit when I lived in Weymouth but never appreciated the architecture much past 'this looks nice - I bet you have to be rich to live here!'

I suppose megalithic monument building must be at the roots of many of mankinds architectural efforts, but Wood harked back to it in a wonderful, symbolic way.

Interesting about the dimensions of King Solomons Temple in the Bible (which Wood used in the Square in Bath) being the same as Stonehenge and Stanton Drew and.....I wonder how many other monuments?

Ah, they don't build 'em like that anymore!!
