Welcome to TMA Laura :)

It really is. Wells get short shrift on TMA these days, but I suspect the fact that this one has a bit of folkore attached to it has helped it avoid being deleted. If I rememeber rightly, it's right on the edge of the Kettles fort, so it is also part of a bona fide bit of prehistory. Sort of.

Hi Laura

I gotta thank you for resurrecting this post - it brought back some great memories!

This was *just* prior to Mrs G and my first trip up to Scotland... which became our honeymoon when we sneaked off and got married!

It was a memorable trip, stopping off in Grasmere, Gretna Green(!) and Loch Ness, stopping every few yards to marvel at the scenery, before popping over to Orkney for a few days.

The return journey brought us down to Perthshire, and a superb couple of days stone-spotting in the company of the ever delightful Bigsweetie, then on to Northumberland, where the magnificent Hob took us on a tour of some fabulous rockart (which until then had completely eluded me!) and a few lovely stones and other sites, including this very well!

It was a holiday to remember... And one we'd love to do again sometime.

Happy days! :)
