Hey Winterjc,
You spoke the other week about cup and ring markings at Castleton which you didn't find the last time you were there- I was re-reading one of me books and came across these 8 figure map co-ords for the sites. You may know of em already, you might not- hope they're of some use;
NS 85888840,
88518831,
85718797,
85528816,
85558811,
85978826.
Hey- you could borrow FourWinds new GPS to find em ;) otherwise it's the ol' 1:25000 map n sharp pencil time!
Cheery,

PS- info from 'Rock Carvings of Northern Britain' by Stan Beckensall (pub. by Shire)

Had a fair old party with it last Sunday. Problem is that it seemed to put me 50m south of where I was according to the map. This is all super of you are looking for a 'kin great monolith that you can't miss but not much help if you are looking for a half buried bullaun stone!

The trick is to approach your target slowly so that it can get a more accurate fix. The other thing to do is to take spare batteries! It chews them up ... good job I got rechargables.

Hi Martin,
This is A1 information. Thanks mate! - I'll have a look for the book as well - I enjoy the theories/debate about rock art.
.....and how much is a GPS - (I'm helping the kids write their Santa letters later on tonight and I might just write my own as well) and what are the best value for money - anyone?
