Yup.They do.If you try to just pull them off,head snaps off and remains under skin to go bad.Any spirit or astringent does trick,or coat liberally with Vaseline so they can't breathe.My mutt picked up 6 in one day in The Highlands.Couple left little bald patches,but hair grows back.

According to my Ol Man,Hebridean method of removal is to apply glowing Cigarette end!
