Have to say, when they're bad, they are terrifying.Drive folk n animals wild. You were very lucky.Don't buy one of the houses surrounded by trees.Yes keep out the wind, but gives the insects somewhere to gather.Eeeek!Best job up there is 'Avon Lady'.You'd clear up.One of their products is bought by everyone to keep em at bay.Funny to see my burly great cousin who works on the roads coating himself in face cream before he leaves for work.

Have relatives all over the island, related one way or another to almost everyone in Leurbost.Dint fancy doin the endless drag round them tho this time,so rented a place in Callanish itself.Excellent accom.Better than many flats I've rented.Had a great week.Weather not bad for that time of year.Stopped off in Glen Affric for coupla nights on way back but left after one.Midgies were very bad there.Couldn't get out of car.Pubs in Drumnadrochit full of foreign students driven from their tents..........

Ahhhh, you're painting such a lovely picture for me! Just need to make sure Mark doesn't read any of this or he may change his mind!

The Avon lady is a great idea! Delivering great bottles of Skin So Soft would be the perfect job for me ;-)

Skin So Soft is good but I got a bunch of friends to act as guinea pigs for a few anti-midge potions when we did the West Highland Way this summer. There's details of them on my website http://www.stravaiging.com/activities-scotland/wildlife/midges

By far and away the best ones (for us) were Stop Bite and Mozzy Off. In both cases the midges would land but didn't bite. At one point my arms, legs and face were a writhing black mass of midges and counting the bites at the end of the day I only had ten, mainly on my chest where they'd got trapped under my t-shirt (and where I hadn't rubbed repellent)

Cheers

even if you had to live 24/7 in one o them 'midge hoods' the guy at the side of Loch Lomond sells it'd be worth it............

change your system down a coupla gears n kick back.there's always tomorrow.............s'great
