Howdo TE

"There are a shedload of interesting stones (boulders), as you probably know, viewed from a speeding car (northwards), on the east side of the M6, a mile or two south of Shap, and just out of reach of the interested parties. Have these all been considered by the professionals? I can't find any records."

I've not really seen any studies of this area apart from the Cherries work on the uplands C&WAAS Research Series Vol II which covers the area as far south as the Blue Rock Quarry.

"the esoteric sites of Cumbria, especially the very important ones like the Shap sites, need a good seeing too"

Couldn't agree more matey. Hopefully Tom Clare's new book will address some of this. The whole Shap, Crosby Ravensworth, Orton area is absolutely littered with sites. I you ever fancy spending a day or two checking it out give me a shout.
