Hi Eds,

We seem to have three Beinn Na Caillich sites, rather than two.

Rhiannon's site is a added as "cairn", but has an incorrect grid ref. Paulus' site is added as a "sacred hill" and has the correct grid ref for the summit of Beinn Na Caillich. Could these two be combined, as the "sacred hill" ref seems to relate to the same piece of folklore as the "cairn" anyway.

[The other Beinn Na Caillich, to the east of these, is distinct.]

Many thanks,

Alken

Decision for the Eds, Paul is banned here.

This is definitely in a muddle, so thank you for pointing this out. However I think there are definitely three distinct sites.

There is a 'possible' chambered cairn:
http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/6062/beinn_na_caillich.html
http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/11596/details/skye+beinn+na+caillich/
I have relabelled this a chambered cairn. The grid reference is right for this and already matches Canmore's record so I am not sure why you think this one is wrong?

Tombo's folklore was perhaps more appropriate to the cairn on top of the mountain, so I have moved it to this one, the one described by Paulus as a sacred hill:
http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/10754/beinn_na_cailleach.html
http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/11605/details/skye+beinn+na+caillich/
I've changed the grid reference fractionally to match the one on Canmore for the cairn.

This leaves the separate mountain at
http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/6282/beinn_na_caillich.html
which doesn't seem to have a cairn on it, at least on the OS and Canmore maps. However, Tombo has quite extensive folklore connected with it. It might also be worth keeping because of the duplicated nearby names.

The other confusion you've alerted me to is the complicated way the sites have been nested. I'm tempted to simplify this.

Thanks,
TMA Ed.
