I had a quick check of the English Heritage site, which now refers to the "exterior only" being open:

I have emailed the regional EH office for more details about the closure and if I get a reply I will post on here.

Visited last week as I took the pretty route driving back to Manc from Bristol...the grass is growing so you'd never know there'd been an entrance.
