Tolborough Tor Cairn

Calling Rhiannon

Thanks for posting the Sabine Gould link...not come across that book before, currently downloading!
Tolborough does have an 'entrance' on the south side, but it takes you up onto the top of the cairn. ...I think a little artistic license here.
As for Brown Willy, yes it does sound like Rilaton..the cairn on Brown Willy being just a pile of stones.

If you come across any other Bodmin Moor nuggets..or novels..please keep me informed.

all the best

No problem! It's nice to hear the opinion of someone who knows these places well. I think old SB-G must have been pretty cool. He even has his own appreciation society apparently! He wrote so many books, and the rousing 'onward christian soldiers' hymn. And there's various stories of him being rather eccentric and amusing. So I don't mind if he exercised a bit of artistic license really.
As ever I will keep my eye out for more Cornish things.
