Exactly ...

Your farmer-charmers wouldn't work - they'd eat you for breakfast.

I always believed that the highest stone circle was one of those in the mountains above Penmaenmawr - Druid's Circle, perhaps, or 275. Biggest, brightest, best-ist, entirely misses the point. And there's Ring ouzel just (4 - 5 days ago) nested on Longpot Head. They are too precious to disturb by visiting.

Tell me when you're going to Kirkhaugh - it's a Great Circle - when you get there, and recognise it, I'll say "so how come it's taken four years (or whatever) to go and look at it".

As far as I am able to discern, with a map, the reference for the Longpot Head possible stone circle is NY 6682 5055. Please approach it from the Intake/Bertram Hill side - simply diverge from the Public Footpath shown and head for the path that runs up the side of the fell beside the boundary wall. This wall can be clearly seen from the hamlet of Knarsdale and has a cupmarked Boundary Stone (not yet listed) just below, and to the left of, where the script 'Benks Holes' lies.
