has anyone got any clues as to what the symbol/inscription means on this ickle stone?

Not a clue sorry. But I do like your picture of Harold's Stones ( http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/33617 ) though.

There's nearly a caption competition in that one!

Welcome to TMA

The bottom bit looks very much like a stepped cross-base - & I'd go s'far as to say that the "stick" bit above the steps would be the cross, were it not for the circle on top of it. The circle-bit aside, it'd definitely be an image of an old cross.

For the benefit of anyone using the 'Olde Worlde' Head Heritage interface to view the Forum, this is the site they're talking about...

Could this have any bearing on it?
There's no copper mining in the vicinity?

Howdo JimmyD
Strange one that matey
It could be an occulty/freemasonry type thing.....Crowley and his mob used the ankha in their symbolism.......not that you'll find any of those shenanigans going on round here.

Hiya Jimmy, No idea about what that is, soz.
From what the others have posted, it seems that the step motif at the bottom is a bit odd, even for an unusual cross. Does the carving extend below ground d'you think?

Nice to see some info appear on an otherwise 'nil-post' site :)
