Sad news that this unique archaeologist has died a few days ago. He moved to my favourite part of Wales, somewhere near the Prescelis, and conducted digs at both Stonehenge and this part of Wales - the famous bluestones.
There is a lovely gentle video of him explaining his thoughts and perhaps this is the way we should remember him, alive and vivid on a Welsh hillside.

"The Healing Stones of Dyfed"

Thanks Moss - I remember well his theory about Stonehenge being a place of healing. As with all Stonehenge theories it was as good (and as unproven) as any.

A lovely little video and a fitting tribute. RIP Prof Geoffrey Wainwright.

Cheers Moss, a nice wee video. Safe journey to him!

Nice video moss and, as you say Drew, ‘safe journey to him’. I’ll put the video link on the Bluestone Debate and Was Stonehenge a hospital? threads later. Meanwhile, let’s not forget that nine hundred year-old poem by Laymond -

The stones are great
And magic power they have
Men that are sick
Fare to that stone
And they wash that stone
And with that water bathe away their sickness

You've probably already seen this Moss - just in case you haven't.
